Flexible Packaging FAQs
- Home > Flexible Packaging > Flexible Packaging FAQs
General Information
What are your minimum run quantities?
All custom flexible packaging products require a minimum run of 500 pounds of plastic. The amount of bags that the 500 pounds produces varies based on the size of the bag.
Can I set up an account with Friesen Plastics or must I prepay for all orders?
All bag orders are subject to over or under runs making it difficult to know what the final number of bags will be. Therefore, we do not take full payment up front. If you do not have credit with us, we require a 50% deposit and the remaining must be paid prior to shipping. However, Friesen Plastics works with most customers on credit. A credit application must be approved before any work on a customer's first order begin. Contact our team for a credit application.
What information do I need to get a quote?
To provide you a quote, we need details about your project, such as packaging type, dimensions, product to be packaged, and quantities. If you are unsure of project details, our experienced customer service and sales team can walk you through the process. Please contact us at 1(800)661-8024 and we will be more than happy to assist you.
Are all the products Friesen Plastics supplies food safe?
Friesen Plastics Inc. is proud to be the first flexible packaging manufacturer in Western Canada to be certified by BRC Global Standards. All flexible packaging products are food safe with the exception of garbage bags which are manufactured using resin from our in house recycling program.
Do you offer Bio-Degradable Products?
All of our custom flexible packaging products have the option to be manufactured from bio-degradable film. Learn more about bio-degradable bags here.
Printing and Artwork
What is the maximum number of colors you can print?
We can print up to 8 colors including white and process colors.
What are printing plates?
Flexographic printing plates are flexible photopolymer plates, used in printing to transfer ink & images to the bag film. All clients are required to purchase the plates for all new designs and the plates will be kept in our plate storage warehouse for future product runs.
Will I see a proof of my artwork?
Yes. All new custom packaging items will have a proof created and sent to the client for approval.
Does Friesen Plastics help with the design?
We employ full-time graphics designers who are dedicated to helping each client with their packaging project. If you have artwork of your own or previously created work from an existing marketing agency, be sure to send it to us in an .AI or .EPS format.
